Day 13: Isle
of Palms to Charleston, SC |
On Wednesday, Oct 20 we left the Isle of Palms
Marina and motored through the Ben Sawyer swing bridge and into Charleston
Harbor. We re-fueled at the Charleston City Marina and tied up for the
night. Steve departed that afternoon. Mike and I planned to take
Sarah outside in the morning and head directly for Fort Pierce. |
Entering
the harbor we could see Fort Sumter on our left. |
We
could also see the extensive facilities in the Port of Charleston on our
right. |
A
very large suspension bridge is under construction in Charleston. |
On
the way across the harbor we encountered this large (>80') sailboat motoring
out into the ocean. The name on the vessel was "Rogue" and it appeared
to flying the British flag. |
 |
As we approached the main part of the city of
Charleston, the historic Battery district came into view. |

 |
I had made a reservation at the Charleston City
Marina, a very large and modern facility on the Ashley River side of
Charleston. After topping off the fuel tank we moved Sarah to a berth
for the night. We plan to depart Charleston in the morning, heading
outside to Fort Pierce. |
